AUSTIN, Texas — The city of Austin announced a new initiative its launching to support children on Wednesday.
The initiative called "Generation ATX" aims to bring kids together to lift them up and make them feel supported.
Austin Mayor Kirk Watson said the initiative is much more than a program for kids but a way to change the course of Austin's future.
Mayor Watson said the initiative will follow three pillars: healthy kids, safe kids and happy successful kids. These aspects aim to promote health, safety and emotional guidance for kids in Austin.
"Our kids deserve spaces where they belong," Mayor Watson said. "Safety is essential, but it isn't enough. Belonging is what helps kids thrive socially, emotionally and developmentally."
The initiative is funded in part through the First Day
