TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - University of Arizona President Suresh Garimella has announced the appointment of Clifton "Cliff" Iler as the university's new general counsel, following a national search.
Iler will lead the university's Office of the General Counsel, offering legal advice to President Garimella and other senior leaders. He succeeds Laura Todd Johnson, who retired after 23 years of service.
"Cliff's deep expertise in critical areas of the law and his experience make him uniquely well qualified for this leadership role," Garimella said.
Iler, who currently serves as university counsel at the University of Virginia, brings more than 30 years of experience in higher education and health care law. His legal expertise spans governance, research, compliance, and constitutional issues.
