Much drier air will move into New Mexico Thursday afternoon as a cold front sweeps across the state. This will bring freezing temperatures to parts of the state and cooler weather statewide.

Winds have picked up across the western half of New Mexico Wednesday afternoon. Winds are gusting over 30 mph in some areas, with these stronger winds moving into the Albuquerque Metro later this evening. It's been a drier day for most of the state as well, with a few isolated storms along I-25 in northern New Mexico. Later tonight, more storms will develop in northern New Mexico. These storms could bring severe weather, such as damaging winds and hail, heavy rainfall, and even a weak, isolated tornado cannot be ruled out in the upper Rio Grande Valley around 10 PM.
