WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors plan to introduce extensive gambling records as evidence in the bribery case against D.C. Councilmember Trayon White , suggesting gambling debts may have played a role in the alleged crimes, according to newly filed court documents obtained by WUSA9 and a former federal prosecutor who reviewed the documents at the stations request.
"The fact that we have hundreds of pages of documents leads me to believe that the gambling may have been extensive or certainly frequent," said Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor with West Coast Trial Lawyers.
He said the volume of documents suggests extensive gambling activity.
"That's a voluminous record when you're talking about business records that are admitted at trial," Rahmani said.
