THE KEY DEVELOPMENTS ON THE LAST DAY OF THE TRADE PERIOD

* Charlie Curnow – After Carlton rejected Geelong’s bid and also knocked back Sydney’s initial proposal, the Blues finally let the key forward go to the Swans. Sydney gave up their next three round-one draft picks and Will Hayward, but also received two second-round picks and a 2027 second-round draft selection.

* Christian Petracca – Melbourne’s only Norm Smith Medallist will join Gold Coast for two round-picks in this year’s draft. The two clubs also swapped lower draft selections in the trade.

* Clayton Oliver – the four-time Melbourne best-and-fairest winner will join GWS for a 2026 third-round pick.

* Jack Steele – the St Kilda captain went to Melbourne in return for a 2027 third-round draft selection.
