LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Drivers across Arkansas may have noticed some closed exits this week as the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) continues its work to make the state’s roads safer.
ARDOT is continuing to test something that it has already installed in certain spots — wrong-way detection systems.
The systems use things like vehicle sensors, cameras, LED lights, and warning devices to let drivers know they’re going in the wrong direction.
However, if a driver doesn’t turn around upon seeing those messages, an alert is sent directly to ARDOT so crews can respond and track the driver.
As ARDOT continues to test these systems, nine different exits will be closed at certain times on Thursday, October 16, 2025, and Friday, October 17, 2025.
The closures will be between 10:00 p.m
