NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Tennessee sheriff’s department says it is experiencing a staffing shortage that could impact the safety and security of its community.
Trousdale County Sheriff Ray Russell wrote in a post Wednesday that the department is down six of its 24 deputies. To help cover the shortage, many specialized deputies have been reassigned to patrol duty, sometimes on top of their regular shifts.
“We are working with the remaining staff to provide the best possible law enforcement service,” he wrote. “However, we ask that you understand we may not be able to meet our previous timely and dedicated response, as we simply do not have adequate staff.”
