As far back as high school in Victoria, B.C., Gavin Cobb was hearing about receiver Nic Demski in Winnipeg.
University of Manitoba coach Brian Dobie was recruiting Cobb at the time, while losing Demski to graduation.
“He would always pull up the clips of Demski and say, ‘This is the guy you’re going to replace,’” Cobb was saying on Wednesday. “I always knew of Nic Demski because, shoot, he was probably the best receiver to come out of Canada West in the past however-long. So I knew about Nic.
“I’m not sure if he would say the same for me.”
Nearly a decade later, Cobb could be replacing Demski again, this time in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers receiving corps.
