A fire that erupted Wednesday in a restaurant near downtown Lake Elsinore damaged the roof of the establishment before crews got it under control.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Chili’s in the 29200 block of Central Avenue, just east of Interstate 15 and north of Highway 74, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered light smoke and flames originating from the top of the structure, from which all patrons and staff had safely evacuated, according to the department.
Firefighters contained the blaze less than a half-hour later. It reportedly started in the kitchen area, though no other details were immediately available.
The extent of the damage could not be confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
