SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Dozens of TD Bank employees and community members gathered in Springfield to plant 40 trees as part of the 14th Annual 'Tree Days' event.

The event took place at various locations in Springfield, including Riverside Road and the Springfield Housing Authority, to improve the environment and combat climate change.

It was part of TD Bank's broader initiative to plant over 100,000 trees nationwide within the next 15 years. Since 2011, the bank has planted over 22,000 native trees and shrubs across its U.S. footprint.

"I think the goal is to plant nearly 2,000 more trees this year," said Nate Tassinari, regional vice president of commercial banking at TD Bank in Western Massachusetts.
