COLUMBIA — A referendum petition seeking to pause recently enacted redistricting legislation has been approved for circulation by Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins, according to a news release from the Secretary of State’s Office.

The secretary of state's office said the approval authorizes Richard von Glahn, the sponsor of the referendum petition regarding the bill to gerrymander Missouri's congressional districts, to begin collecting signatures from registered Missouri voters.

The secretary of state's office said Wednesday that no signatures gathered before this approval date are valid under Missouri law , and the secretary of state's office said doing so constitutes a misdemeanor election offense.
