The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) has announced the acquisition of the Upper Bone Creek property, a 646-hectare parcel located in the Cypress Uplands Natural Area, about 30 kilometres west of Shaunavon and 18 kilometres north of Eastend.

Michael Burak, program director with NCC in Saskatchewan, said the land is a significant addition to conservation efforts in the region.

“It’s located in an area where we’ve really started to see a fair bit of an uptick in land conversion over the past few years,” Burak explained. “There are pressures from oil and gas development, helium exploration, and wind energy developments all knocking on their doors.”
