LYNN – Despite the cold wind blowing through Manning Field on Wednesday evening, St. Mary’s brought the heat to win 2-0 over Catholic Central League boys soccer foe Bishop Stang.

Bishop Stang (6-5-4) put up a strong fight, and for the majority of the match it seemed like anyone’s game as St. Mary’s (7-4-2) didn’t score the first goal until the second half. Head coach Dan Garcia said the win gave his team a confidence boost, as Bishop Stang has played well against the rest of the CCL.

“I think it was a great win for us,” said Garcia. “Stang has played great … they’ve had a lot better results against the same teams that we’ve played.”

Sophomore Aidan Martins said the team was approaching the game with a lot of focus due to Bishop Stang being a quality opponent.
