COLUMBUS, Ohio — The battle to redraw Ohio's U.S. congressional district map is about to move into its next phase.

On Tuesday afternoon, Gov. Mike DeWine called the first meeting of the Ohio Redistricting Commission for the morning of Oct. 21. The commission will meet at 9 a.m. in the Senate Finance Committee hearing room.

Last month, the Joint Committee on Congressional Redistricting failed to approve a new bipartisan map. So now, the seven-member Redistricting Commission, with five Republicans and two Democrats, will be tasked with drawing a new political map for Ohio's 15 U.S. congressional districts.

Under the current map, Republicans hold 10 of Ohio's 15 seats in Congress.
