Defeated and in pain, a lonely dog stood motionless on the street. His back legs could barely support him, and each attempt to move only deepened his exhaustion.

The sadness in his eyes spoke volumes.

Just when it seemed there was no hope left, everything changed.

A team from Stray Rescue of St. Louis , a Missouri-based organization, was driving through the area when they spotted the suffering pup. One look at his frail body and lowered posture told them he desperately needed help.

The dog, later named Guillermo de la Cruz, gazed up at them with pleading eyes, silently asking to be saved.

Safe At Last

Without hesitation, the rescuers stopped their car and hurried toward him.

Although Guillermo de la Cruz was visibly frightened, his injuries made it impossible for him to run.
