HAMDEN, Conn. — At least seven people were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement during a raid at a Hamden car wash Wednesday, according to Connecticut officials.
The raid happened at 10:20 a.m. at a car wash on Dixwell Avenue, Mayor Lauren Garrett said at a press conference with town officials and community members.
She noted that among those detained were a mother and father of children who are in school. The town was working to get the names of those detained and contact the families involved.
Garrett described ICE's actions as "deplorable, they are disgusting, they are not what we represent in Hamden."
