A speed camera caught a driver going 154 km/h on a busy west-end Toronto street earlier this year, nearly four times the posted speed limit, according to new data released by a community advocacy group.
Safe Parkside, which has been lobbying for safety for years, obtained the data from the city through a freedom of information request. The data shows the highest speeds recorded by the Parkside Drive speed camera from when it was set up in April 2022 to when it was cut down for the seventh time on Sept. 7, 2025.
The top speeds recorded were more than 100 km/h, while the top five speeds were all more than 120 km/h. The highest recorded speed was 154 km/h. The posted speed limit is 40 km/h.
