NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Department of Corrections is going digital next month for inmate mail.

Starting on Nov. 3, inmate mail will be processed and scanned before being delivered to inmates on TDOC tablets. The TDOC said drawings and other permitted personalized items will also be scanned and given to inmates via the tablets.

Inmates will be ale to have access to the digital letters for the duration of their sentence.

Those sending mail will be able to track the status of their letters and will be notified if a letter is rejected.
