Shillong, Oct 15: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today maintained that there are no uranium activities in Meghalaya, least of all in Garo Hills, as has been alleged.

“There is no information or evidence to suggest that any such activity is going on. Leaders in responsible positions should refrain from making statements without factual basis just to grab attention,” Sangma told reporters.

He added, however, that if there is indeed any such activity, it is a matter of concern, and if someone comes forward with proof and details, the government of Meghalaya will be the first to take action.
