UNC football has released its first injury update ahead of its game at California in Week 8 of the 2025 college football season.

According to the ACC availability report, which provided its initial injury updates at 11 p.m. ET on Oct. 15, quarterback Gio Lopez is not on the injury list for the Tar Heels (2-3, 0-1 ACC) in their ACC road opener against the Golden Bears (4-2, 1-1) on Friday, Oct. 17, at California Memorial Stadium. That means Lopez is good to go.

Lopez started the first four games of the season, completing 62.7% of his passes for 430 yards, three TDs and three interceptions. With Lopez out vs. Clemson, veteran Max Johnson completed 61.9% of his passes for 208 yards. In three appearances, Johnson has 378 yards and two TDs.
