CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - State Representative Carlos Gonzalez is urging the Department of Public Utilities to reject Eversource's proposed 13% natural gas rate increase, which is scheduled to take effect on November 1st.

Gonzalez has expressed concerns that the rate hike would exacerbate the financial burden on struggling families, emphasizing the need to prioritize energy affordability. He has formally communicated his stance through a letter to the department's chair and commissioners.

"Our cost of goods has skyrocketed. Every time people go to the supermarket, it gets higher and higher. We are facing a tragedy if we increase our electricity rates," said Representative Carlos Gonzalez.
