Christen Press , a two time-World Cup champion, will retire from pro soccer at the end of the 2025 NWSL season, ending a 14-year playing career that began in WPS.

• Press won the MAC Hermann Trophy in 2010 at Stanford and was named the 2011 WPS Rookie of the Year in 2011 for magicJack. When WPS folded, there was no U.S. women's pro league, so Press headed to Sweden, playing for Göteborg FC and Tyresö FF in the Damallsvenskan. In 2014, Tyresö reached the UEFA Champions League final, losing 4-3 to Wolfsburg.

• The USWNT was then dominated by players under contract with U.S. Soccer, but Press (an alternate on the 2012 USWNT Olympic gold-medal team) finally broke into the team in 2013, scoring the first two goals and assisting on the third goal in her first match, a 4-0 win over Scotland. S
