The Subaru WRX STI hatchback is one step closer to a comeback – as a concept, at least – as one of two new STI show cars due to be revealed later this month, the other an electric car.

Subaru is set to reveal two new concept cars previewing the future of its STI high-performance division – a petrol-powered hot hatch, and an electric car – at the Tokyo motor show later this month.

Having been without a distinct STI halo car since the launch of the current-generation WRX, the move marks a revival of Subaru’s performance past.

Dubbed the Performance-E STI Concept and Performance-B STI Concept, the two show cars offer distinctly different takes on Subaru’s vision for the STI brand.
