PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Regional Rail riders will have a chance to voice their frustrations and learn more about the ongoing safety investigation into SEPTA's aging Silverliner IV fleet during a City Council hearing scheduled for Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The hearing comes in response to a recent federal emergency order, requiring SEPTA to conduct enhanced inspections of its Silverliner IV railcars following a series of fires.

The National Transportation Safety Board warned that the outdated design and maintenance practices posed an "immediate and unacceptable safety risk."
