URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - The Champaign County Sheriff's Office and the Champaign County Emergency Management Agency announced Wednesday that they are the recipients of a $13,478 grant from Norfolk Southern.

The grant is part of Norfolk Southern's Safety First Grant Program, which is geared towards supporting first responders, safety education and emergency prep, according to the Champaign County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office said the funding will help purchase new laptops for the Champaign County Emergency Operations Center and mobile command post, helping create more efficient operations.
