SEATTLE — Mayor Bruce Harrell is declaring Thursday “Humpy Day” as Seattle rallies behind the Mariners ahead of Game 4 of the American League Championship Series.

The City of Seattle, Seattle Sports Commission, and Downtown Seattle Association will host a community rally and march to T-Mobile Park beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday at City Hall. The event will feature remarks from city, sports, and community leaders before the University of Washington Marching Band leads fans through downtown to the ballpark.

Harrell said the proclamation celebrates Humpy the salmon — the underdog mascot of the Mariners’ in-game “Salmon Run” race — whose long-awaited victory this postseason has become a symbol of team spirit.
