OMAHA, Neb. —

Wednesday marked day one of Nebraska State Softball.

Top seed in Class A Millard North was trailing Papio 2-1 in the fifth until Tentley Kampbell took flight.

A two-run blast gave the Mustangs the lead.

Things were tied at four apiece in the top of the seventh when Elli Ridgley lined one back up the middle to give the Monarchs the 5-4 lead.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Jadyn Pokorny walked it off to give Millard North the 7-5 victory over Papillion La Vista.

On the other side of the Class A winners bracket, Westside pulled an upset against Millard West but then fell to Lincoln Southwest 6-0.

In Class B, Skutt nearly came back against Beatrice after trailing 9-0, and Blair was shut out by top seed Grand Island Northwest.
