GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Mississippi Heroes’ new home office can be found on Pass Road in Gulfport.
The Coast nonprofit helps those with mobility challenges by building ramps for their homes, allowing for easier daily movement.
Executive director Katherine Sutton says this will be used for meeting space and ramp module building.
The idea for the nonprofit started before COVID-19, while Sutton was taking care of a family member.
“I used to take care of my grandfather, and we had a fundraising event, which is now the Gulf Coast Beer & Bacon Festival,” Sutton said. “Nobody wanted the event and I wanted to keep it going and I didn’t want to do it for profit. So, just somewhere in the back of my head was the nonprofit, and so we just started it and we use that event to fundraise every year
