In a game that was and wasn’t closer than the final score, the Portland Winterhawks scored three straight goals in the 3rd period to go from 4-0 to within 4-3, but the good feelings only last 45 seconds as the Edmonton Oil Kings score an insurance goal and then an empty-netter and prevail 6-3.

Edmonton looked to be in control after 2 periods with a 4-0 lead, but they eased up in the 3rd and focused more on settling personal scores. Portland took the opening, led by 2 goals from Jordan Duguay, but fell short.

Four Oil Kings had 2 points. Ethan MacKenzie had 2 points and was +4, while Lukas Sawchyn had 2 goals including an empty-netter. With the win, Edmonton jumps Everett into 1st overall in the Western Hockey League.
