Parts of the 5 Freeway could be shut down between Los Angeles and San Diego beginning Friday due to concerns of live fire during a military event off Camp Pendleton's coast.
Missiles fired by Navy ships and massive military maneuvers are said to be planned as part of the Marine Corps' 250th anniversary celebration.
Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are both scheduled to attend the event titled "Sea to Shore - A Review of Amphibious Strength".
The event could include Navy ships firing live military ordinance over the 5 Freeway and onto Camp Pendleton.
As a result, the 5 Freeway could be closed from Friday to Saturday between Los Angeles and San Diego for an unknown amount of time, the Los Angeles Times reported.
