SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) - From dressing in full mammoth costumes, to looking like cavemen, Utah Mammoth fans got creative for their team's historic home opener Wednesday night.

With the renovations to the Delta Center, fans are closer to the action than ever before, and the arena exploded with goals by Barrett Hayton and JJ Peterka in the second period.

"I knew ever since the beginning that this would be a hockey town," said Utah fan Therron Murray. "If you look around, it's proven."

"I couldn't be any more excited," said Mammoth fan Shawn Hines. "Like, this is it, right now. Utah Mammoth, tusks up baby!"

The Mammoth revealed its new mascot, Tusky, much top the crowd's delight.
