CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A Cuyahoga County jury Wednesday rejected Bionca Ellis’ claim that she was insane when she stabbed 3-year-old Julian Wood to death in North Olmsted last year.

Ellis, 34, was found guilty on all counts, including aggravated murder and attempted murder, in the random attack on Julian and his mother, Margot Wood, outside a Giant Eagle grocery store on June 3, 2024.

Family members and supporters of Julian lightly sobbed as Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge John Russo read the verdict. Ellis showed no reaction.

She will be sentenced on Oct. 27 and faces life in prison.

After the hearing, Margot Wood told reporters that she and her family appreciate everyone who supported them.

“This was for him (Julian) today,” she said.
