On Thursday at 2:04 a.m. the National Weather Service released a coastal flood statement valid from 8 p.m. until Friday midnight for Dukes and Nantucket counties.

The weather service comments, "Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (3.0 to 5.0 feet Mean Lower Low Water)."

"Roads remain passable. Low-lying areas and roads near Nantucket Harbor, including Easy Street, may experience pockets of shallow flooding less than one foot deep," explains the weather service. "Do not drive through flooded roadways."
