The Colorado Supreme Court ruled unanimously this week that Senate Bill 25-288, signed into law by Gov. Jared Polis this summer, is necessary to prevent AI-generated child pornography and that the changes brought about by the bill can result in future prosecutions.
The Intimate Digital Depictions Criminal and Civil Actions Act concerns preventing certain disclosures of intimate depictions and creating a cause of action for non-consensual disclosures of intimate digital depictions, adding to and amending related provisions in criminal law.
Among the bill’s prime sponsors was Matt Soper, the Delta Republican representing House District 54. He sponsored the bill along with Democratic Senator Robert Rodriguez and House Democrat Brianna Titone.
