TROY – Troy Athens added boys soccer back in 1981. Since then, the Red Hawks have recorded about as many district titles to its trophy case as any team in the Metropolitan Detroit area or at least near the top of the charts.

Athens collected its 21st district crown Wednesday night on its home turf, upending Sterling Heights Stevenson 4-0 in a Division 1 district finals match.

Athens, honorable mention in the Division 1 state rankings, will host a pair of regional semifinals games next Tuesday (Oct. 20) and will face the winner of Saturday’s district finals between fourth-ranked Romeo and Rochester Adams. That district finals tilt will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rochester.
