For the Bihar Assembly elections, the NDA has announced candidates for 226 seats as of Thursday. Both the BJP and JDU have released their full lists of 101 candidates each. The LJP(R) has announced 14 candidates, while the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) has declared 6 candidates. The Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) has also fielded 4 candidates.
In the NDA candidate list, there are only 4 Muslim candidates, all from the JDU. None of the 101 BJP candidates are Muslim. Among the BJP list, 49 are upper-caste candidates. Singer Maithili Thakur has been given a ticket from Alinagar.
On the other hand, the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) is still engaged in a tussle over seat-sharing. The RJD and Congress are distributing symbols to their candidates, but no party has released an official list yet.
