The National Gallery of Australia will host a major exhibition of art from the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in 2026, three years after an independent review cleared artists of allegations of improper interference.
The exhibition, Ngura Pulka — Epic Country, was postponed in June 2023 after a video emerged which appeared to show a non-Aboriginal assistant helping to paint an artwork.
As a result of the allegations, the gallery commissioned an independent review into the provenance of 28 paintings by APY artists that were to have featured in the exhibition.
