The Supreme Court on Thursday (October 16, 2025) questioned whether further judicial time should be spent on the attempted attack on Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai by an advocate earlier this month, observing that doing so may give more “fillip” to “publicity-hungry” individuals.

The court nevertheless agreed to examine, after the Diwali break, whether contempt proceedings should be initiated against the 71-year-old lawyer, Rakesh Kishore.
