Responding to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s appeal, flight services between Kolkata and London are finally set to begin. However, passengers will initially have to travel via Mumbai to reach London. The new route will be operational from October 26, offering flights in both directions — Kolkata to London and London to Kolkata — on the same day. The starting fare is ₹22,000, officials said.

Passengers previously relied on connecting flights

Until now, the absence of a direct flight from Kolkata to London has forced travelers to take connecting flights from other states like Delhi or Mumbai, or even from international hubs such as Dubai or Qatar, leading to significant travel time and inconvenience.
