A youth football team and its coach out of Middletown were suspended for the rest of the season days after the coach reported racist taunts at his players last month.

The suspension impacts 220 kids who play football and cheer across all four levels of the Seven Sorrows Eagles program.

Coach Percy Maple, who’s been with the Seven Sorrows Eagles team for 13 years, and head coach of the midget program since 2017, said he and program advocates have been trying to call attention to racism in the Capital Football Association (CFA) for years, but their statements have fallen on deaf ears.
