On Oct. 15, Rob Schumacher of Schumacher Interests celebrated the construction of The Merc’s 8-acre, three-building retail centerpiece with a groundbreaking ceremony.

According to a news release, the project will total approximately 35,000 square feet of retail and dining space and will eventually expand into a 112-acre mixed-use development.

The details

Located between UTSA Boulevard and West Hausman Road, the 350 million development will eventually expand into a Pearl-like district, with restaurants, apartments, retail and outdoor spaces. According to the release, the retail space will eventually expand to include 200,000 square feet throughout the site.

The Merc development includes:

1,600 total apartments, including the 650 Oxly and Lyric residences currently in operation
