Louisville Ballet's Adaptive Dance Program introduces dance to people of all abilities.
The program has partnered with different organizations, including Heuser Hearing and Language Institute and Down Syndrome of Louisville.
Molly Kays, who leads the program, said she adapts the movements so dance feels accessible to participants.
Molly Kays has been dancing since she was five years old, practicing in styles like ballet, tap and jazz.
For Kays, dance is “an very inspirational art form” that doesn’t require words and allows dancers to express what they’re feeling.
“I think that’s the beautiful thing about dance — it’s got its own language. You’re able to use it to communicate, and you don’t even have to say anything,” she said.
