China on Thursday defended its ongoing purchases of Russian oil, calling them "legitimate" and criticising what it described as "unilateral bullying" by the United States. The remarks come after US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that PM Modi had assured him New Delhi would stop buying Russian oil and signalled intentions to pressure China similarly. "The actions of the United States are a typical example of unilateral bullying and economic coercion," said Lin Jian, spokesman for China's foreign ministry, during a press briefing. Jian also defended its "normal, legitimate economic, trade, and energy cooperation with countries around the world, including Russia".
