The federal government has reached its 15th day of shutdown on Oct. 15, when the U.S. Senate failed to pass a GOP-backed spending bill for the ninth time , which would have extended government funding until Nov. 21.

Kitsap businesses that rely on money spent by federal workers, usually service members living or working in the Navy community, have been seeing significant drops in sales through October. Despite the sudden loss of revenue, some of them decided to make special offers to help the community get through the difficult time that has no end date yet.
