TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - With the ongoing government shutdown, there are growing fears that the program meant to help women, infants, and children could run out of money.

The administration recently re-directed $300 million from unused tariff funds to help keep WIC running.

Several states are still unsure how it will fund them for the rest of the year, but NET Health is trying to make sure that money doesn’t run out for East Texans.

For East Texan Juanita Fraley the national Women, Infant, and Children program, also known as WIC, has been a lifeline for her and her family.

“In many ways, the program has been helping us because sometimes we don’t have enough resources to pay or the grocery shopping,” says Fraley.
