Why Would Republicans Want to Run on Their Record?

Well, it’s that time again, local elections are just around the corner and it’s time to make decisions about whom to vote for. This year it should be easy.

Let’s look at the record of the Republicans, if you can stomach it and your wallet can afford it.

Let’s start with the elephant in the room... the $34 million unnecessary burden the Republicans have saddled on us all with their ill-advised refusal to accept a legally imposed increase in water and sewer rates from Waterbury. Aside from the accrued amount of the rate increase itself, dating from 2018, there’s the additional millions of dollars of additional costs for legal fees and interest. At this time, I must confess that I do not remember how much of the $34 million is for the rate increase and how much is for intere
