Waldo County will test its emergency alert system next week.

The Waldo County Emergency Management Agency plans to send out test text alerts to cellphones throughout the county at 10 a.m. on Oct. 25.

Residents will only receive the test texts if they have activated the test feature turned on in their settings. That comes turned off by default. Residents will still receive real emergency alerts even if they don’t receive test alerts.

Anyone who opts to receive the test text alert can send the following information to the Waldo County Emergency Management Agency at ema@waldocountyme.gov :

— Whether you received the message

— The physical address where you received the message

— Your mobile carrier
