A troubled teenager grappling with her sexuality and gender identity deliberately took her own life during a summer walk with her father, an inquest has heard. Qudsiyah Mahmood had pleaded with her poorly father to take her to Baitings Reservoir, near Ripponden, promising she would do well in her forthcoming school exams.

However, Bradford Coroner's Court was told on Thursday it was a ruse to get her to the location so she could jump into the water. The 13-year-old Halifax youngster died after going over a parapet at the beauty spot at approximately 1.20pm on Wednesday, May 28.
