Mesa police arrested a man after they said he stole a woman's service dog, causing her to faint and injure her neck in the dog's absence.
Buddy, a 4-year-old Rottweiler, Mastiff and Golden Retriever mix, was taken on a walk Oct. 6 by Geoffrey Washington, 38, when he was paying to stay at the owner's home temporarily, court documents said. Washington told the owner several hours later that he would not be returning the dog, police spokesperson Detective Jesse Macias said in a news release.
