Ariarne Titmus, a four-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer for Australia’s national team, has retired from the sport at age 25.
Titmus announced her retirement in an Instagram video .
“I am here to announce that I’ve made the decision to retire from competitive swimming,” Titmus said in the video. “A tough one, a really tough one, but one that I’m really happy with. I love swimming. I’ve always loved swimming. It’s been my passion since I was a little girl. But I guess I’ve taken this time away from the sport and realized some things in my life that have always been important to me are just a little more important to me now than swimming, and that’s okay.”
Titmus rose to stardom at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, where she won two gold medals – one in the 200m Freestyle and one in the 400m
